About 300 participants showed up last Saturday on the streets of Accra for the maiden Health Walk organized by the Accra Psychiatric Hospital in raising awareness on Mental Health issues.
The walk themed “Getting real with Mental Health: No Health without Mental Health” was aimed at raising mental health awareness to help the public appreciate the many mental health problems and issues that confront us as a people. Clad in uniformed Lacoste and trousers, the participants displayed placards some of which read “A sick mind in a healthy body is just like owning a vehicle without an engine”, “Freedom is incomplete without being free mentally”, “A sound mind contributes to a healthy nation” and marched through some principal streets in the metropolis.
They later converged at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital where they were addressed by leaders of the hospital and other supporting organizations that came on board.
